         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 1, 2001, the House  
         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Education, Subcommittee on  
         Education, met in a public hearing and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Hochberg, at 8:10 a.m. 
          
         Present:  Representatives Hochberg; Delisi; Giddings; Mowery  
                   (4). 
         Absent:   Representative Gutierrez (1). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.)

         At 9:45 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 1:00 p.m., February 6, 2001. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 1:03 p.m. and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Hochberg. The roll was answered as  
         follows:

                   (4). 
         Absent:   Representative Gutierrez (1). 
          
         A quorum was present.
