1-1 ****** NEED TWO-PAGE HEADER ****** 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 512 1-3 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-4 recognize the members of the Milby High School Student Council 1-5 who assisted with the enrolling of families in the Children's 1-6 Health Insurance Program; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Joining with the Children's Defense Fund-Texas 1-8 in its effort to reduce the number of children in Texas without 1-9 health insurance, these outstanding young people gave generously 1-10 of their time and energy to aid with the enrollment; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Good health is the right of every Texan and with a 1-12 child's success in school, as well as in life, greatly dependent 1-13 upon good health, it is essential that the estimated 1.4 million 1-14 uninsured children in Texas be enrolled; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Volunteering to participate in the Thanksgiving 1-16 Sign-Up Campaign, the Milby High School students joined people 1-17 across the state in this humanitarian effort to provide the 1-18 children of Texas with the health insurance they need and 1-19 deserve; and 1-20 WHEREAS, The resounding success of this child advocacy 2-1 campaign is due to the concerted efforts of concerned citizens 2-2 like Norma Leon, Sa Bui, Jennifer Gussman, Lan-Anh Tran, 2-3 Alex Martinez, Indra Medina, Cynthia Medina, Lilly Zaragoza, 2-4 Lizet Hernandez, Ana Torres, Maria Agholor, and Shakirah Laverne; 2-5 now, therefore, be it 2-6 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-7 77th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Milby High 2-8 School Student Council who assisted with the Children's Health 2-9 Insurance Program crusade; and, be it further 2-10 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-11 them as a token of esteem and high regard from the Texas Senate. 2-12 Gallegos 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 President of the Senate 2-15 I hereby certify that the above 2-16 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-17 on March 28, 2001. 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 Secretary of the Senate 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Member, Texas Senate
