1-1                                   AN ACT
 1-2     relating to providing the services of promotoras for outreach and
 1-3     education programs for recipients of medical assistance.
 1-4           BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
 1-5           SECTION 1.  Section 46.003, Health and Safety Code, as added
 1-6     by Chapter 857, Acts of the 76th Legislature, Regular Session,
 1-7     1999, is amended by adding Subsection (c) to read as follows:
 1-8           (c)  The Health and Human Services Commission shall require
 1-9     health and human services agencies to use certified promotoras to
1-10     the extent possible in health outreach and education programs for
1-11     recipients of medical assistance under Chapter 32, Human Resources
1-12     Code.
1-13           SECTION 2.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2001.
