         Pursuant to a notice posted on August 7, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Windham School District, Select met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Lengefeld, at 9:40 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Lengefeld; Allen; Ellis, Dan; Haggerty  
                   (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Dutton; Staples (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken on the role education plays in the  
         recidivism rates of offenders subsequent to release, the budget  
         of the Windham School District and recommendations for changes  
         in the governance of the Windham School District.  (See attached  
         witness list.) 
          
         At 11:00 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
