         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on April 15,  
         1999, the House Committee on Public Safety met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the Chair, Representative  
         Bob Turner at 12:08 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Turner, Bob; Keel; Berman; Driver;  
                   Gutierrez; Najera (6). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Carter; Hupp; King, Phil (3). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         (Representatives Carter and King, Phil now present.)   
          
         HB 1087 
          
         The chair laid out HB 1087 as pending business.   
          
         Representative Turner, Bob offered a complete committee  
         substitute.   
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         Representative Berman moved that HB 1087, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Turner, Bob; Keel; Berman;  
                        Carter; Driver; Gutierrez; King, Phil; Najera  
                        (8). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representative Hupp (1). 
          
         HB 995 
          
         The chair laid out HB 995 as pending business.   
          
         Representative Berman moved that HB 995 be reported favorably  
         to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and  
         be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Turner, Bob; Berman; Carter;  
                
                        Gutierrez; King, Phil (5). 
          
         Nays:          Representatives Keel; Driver; Najera (3). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0).

         At 12:13 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
