         Pursuant to a suspension of the 5-day posting rule on May 3,  
         1999, the House Committee on Public Education met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the Chair, Representative  
         Paul Sadler at 4:30 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Sadler; Dutton; Dunnam; Hochberg;  
                   Lengefeld; Olivo; Smith (7). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Grusendorf; Oliveira (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         (Representative Grusendorf now present.) 
          
         The committee met in a joint meeting with the House Committee  
         on Pensions and Investments to discuss teacher health care. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 5:00 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
