         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 1, 1999, the House  
         Committee on Public Education, Subcommittee on Ch. 37 met in a  
         public hearing and was called to order by the Chair,  
         Representative Dutton at 4:10 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Dutton; Lengefeld; Olivo (3). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Dunnam; Smith (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The committee met to hear testimony regarding Chapter 37,  
         Texas Education Code. 
          
         (Representative Smith now present.)   
          
         (Representative Dunnam now present.)   
          
         At 7:30 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
