         Pursuant to a notice posted on March 5, 1999, the House  
         Committee on Public Education met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the Chair, Representative Paul Sadler at  
         2:20 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:

                   Lengefeld; Oliveira; Olivo; Smith (7). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Dunnam; Hochberg (2). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The Chair laid out SB 1 as pending business.
