         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 24, 1999, the House  
         Committee on Public Education met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the Chair, Representative Paul Sadler at  
         2:20 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Sadler; Dutton; Dunnam; Grusendorf;  
                   Hochberg; Oliveira; Olivo; Smith (8). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Lengefeld (1). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         The chair laid out SB 1 as pending business. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         The bill was left pending without objection.  
          
         At 10:17 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
