         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 10, 1999, the House  
         Committee on Public Education met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the Chair, Representative Paul Sadler at  
         2:15 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:

                   Hochberg; Lengefeld; Oliveira; Olivo; Smith (9). 
          
         Absent:   None (0). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         The committee heard invited testimony on teacher compensation. 
          
         At 5:50 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
