Pursuant to a notice posted on May 22, 1999, the House
Committee on Judicial Affairs met in a formal meeting and was
called to order by the Chair, Representative Senfronia
Thompson at 8:28 p.m.
The roll was answered as follows:

Absent: Representatives Garcia; Shields (2).
A quorum was present.
SB 376 by Sen. Nelson (Solomons)
The chair laid out SB 376 and explained.
Representative Hartnett moved that SB 376 be reported
favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do
pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and
Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the following
vote:
Ayes: Representatives Thompson; Hartnett; Capelo;
Deshotel; Hinojosa; Solis, Jim; Uresti (7).

Rep Uresti offered a complete committee substitute. The chair
laid out CSSB 1436. Rep. Uresti moved adoption of the
substitute. There being no objection, CSSB 1436 was adopted.
Representative Hartnett moved that SB 1436, as substitued, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on
Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the

Rep. Hartnett offered a committee amendment to SB 1518. The
chair laid out the committee amendment. Rep. Hartnett moved
adoption of the committee amendment. There being no
objection, committee amendment #1 was adopted.

reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on
Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the

No action taken. Certified copy did not have publisher's
affidavit attached to it.
There being no further business, the chair moved that the
committee stand adjourned. There being no objection, the
Committee on Judicial Affairs adjourned at 8:32 p.m.
