Pursuant to an announcement from the House Floor on May 19,
1999, the House Committee on Judicial Affairs met in a formal
meeting and was called to order by the Chair, Representative
Senfronia Thompson at 12:18 p.m.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Thompson; Hartnett; Capelo;
Hinojosa; Uresti (5).
Absent: Representatives Deshotel; Garcia; Shields; Solis,
Jim (4).
A quorum was present.
SB 1011 by Sen. Brown (Dutton)
The chair recalled SB 1011 from subcommittee.
The chair laid out SB 1011 and explained.
The chair offered and laid out a complete committee
substitute. The chair moved adoption of the substitute. CSSB
1011 was adopted without objection.
Representative Thompson moved that SB 1011, as substituted, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion failed by the
following vote:
Ayes: None (0).
Nays: None (0).
Present not Voting: Representatives Thompson; Hartnett;
Capelo; Hinojosa; Uresti (5).
Absent: Representatives Deshotel; Garcia; Shields;
Solis, Jim (4).
SB 1366 by Sen. Harris (Thompson)
The chair laid out SB 1366 and explained.
Representative Thompson moved that SB 1366 be reported
favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do
pass and be printed. The motion failed by the following vote:
Ayes: Representative Thompson (1).
Nays: None (0).
Present not Voting: Representatives Hartnett; Capelo;
Hinojosa; Uresti (4).
Absent: Representatives Deshotel; Garcia; Shields;
Solis, Jim (4).
There being no further business, the chair moved that the
committee stand adjourned. There being no objection, the
Committee on Judicial Affairs adjourned at 12:19 p.m.
