         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 18,  
         1999, the House Committee on Insurance met in a formal meeting  
         and was called to order by the Chair, Representative John  
         Smithee at 7:40 pm.

         The chair laid out SB 497.   
          
         Representative Wise moved that SB 497 be reported favorably to  
         the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be  
         printed.  The motion prevailed by the following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Smithee; Eiland; Burnam; Lewis,  
                        Glenn; Olivo; Thompson; Wise (7). 
          
         Nays:          None (0). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives Moreno, Joe; Seaman (2). 
          
         SB 1076 
          
         The chair laid out SB 1076.   
          
         Representative Thompson offered an amendment to the measure.   
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection.   
          
         Representative Thompson moved that SB 1076, as amended, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Smithee; Eiland; Lewis, Glenn;  
                        Olivo; Thompson; Wise (6). 
          
         Nays:          Representative Burnam (1). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0).

         SB 1787 
          
         The chair laid out SB 1787.   
          
         Representative Eiland offered a complete committee substitute.   
          
         Representative Eiland offered an amendment to the measure.   
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection.   
          
         The chair directed the staff to incorporate the amendments  
         into a committee substitute.   
          
         The committee substitute, as amended, was adopted without  
         objection. 
          
         Representative Eiland moved that SB 1787, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion failed by the  
         following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Smithee; Eiland (2). 
          
         Nays:          Representatives Burnam; Lewis, Glenn; Olivo;  
                        Thompson; Wise (5). 
          
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
          
         Absent:        Representatives Moreno, Joe; Seaman (2). 
          
         At 7:43 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,
