Pursuant to a notice posted on May 14, 1999 and an
announcement from the house floor on May 17, 1999, the House
Committee on Higher Education met in a formal meeting and was
called to order by the Chair, Representative Irma Rangel at
4:03 pm.

The chair laid out SB 893.
Representative Brown, Fred offered an amendment to the
measure.
The amendment was adopted without objection.
Representative Brown, Fred moved that SB 893, as amended, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed and be sent to the Committee on
Local and Consent Calendars. The motion prevailed by the
