Pursuant to a notice posted on May 10, 2000, the House Committee
on General Investigating met in a public hearing and was called
to order by the chair, Representative Gallego, at 10:12 a.m.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Gallego; Crabb; Eiland; Keel (4).
Absent: Representative Uher (1).
A quorum was present.
The following individuals were recognized by Chairman Gallego to
testify on the issue of the State Board of Education's
management of the Permanent School Fund:
Martha McCabe, Legal Counsel, Office of the State Auditor
Dr. Bob Offutt, State Board of Education
David Bradley, State Board of Education

At 12:08 p.m., on the motion of Representative Crabb and without
objection, the meeting was recessed until 12:26 p.m., May 24,
2000.
The committee continued to hear testimony from David Bradley,
State Board of Education.

The following individuals were called by Chairman Gallego to see
if they were present as requested:
Christian Washington
Robert Rodriguez
Neither appeared.
In accordance with House Rule 4, Section 21, Representative
Crabb moved to authorize the issuance of a subpoena to compel
the attendance of Christian Washington to appear before the
Committee. Representative Eiland seconded the motion.
The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
Ayes: Representatives Gallego; Crabb; Eiland; Keel
(4).
Nays: None (0).
Present, Not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Uher (1).
In accordance with House Rule 4, Section 21, Representative Keel
moved to authorize the issuance of a subpoena to compel the
attendance of Robert Rodriguez to appear before the Committee.
Representative Eiland seconded the motion.
The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
Ayes: Representatives Gallego; Crabb; Eiland; Keel
(4).
Nays: None (0).
Present, Not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Uher (1).
At 2:18 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was recessed subject to the call of the chair.
