Pursuant to a suspension of the 5-day posting rule on May 5,
1999, and the posting of a notice on May 5, 1999, the House
Committee on Elections met in a public hearing and was called
to order by the Chair, Representative Debra Danburg at 7:32
pm.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Danburg; Jones, Jesse; Averitt;
Denny; Greenberg; Hodge; Madden (7).
Absent: Representatives Gallego; Uher (2).
A quorum was present.

The chair recalled HB 4 from subcommittee.
Representative Madden offered a complete committee substitute.
Representative Madden offered an amendment to the committee
substitute.
Testimony was taken. (See attached witness list.)
The amendment was adopted by the following record vote:

Denny; Greenberg; Hodge; Madden (7).
Nays: None (0).
Present not Voting: None (0).

The committee substitute, as amended, was adopted by the
following record vote:
Ayes: Representatives Danburg; Jones, Jesse; Averitt;
Denny; Greenberg; Hodge; Madden (7).
Nays: None (0).
Present not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representatives Gallego; Uher (2).
Representative Madden moved that HB 4, as substituted, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion prevailed by the
following vote:
Ayes: Representatives Danburg; Jones, Jesse; Averitt;
Denny; Greenberg; Hodge; Madden (7).
Nays: None (0).
Present not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representatives Gallego; Uher (2).
The chair directed the staff to incorporate the amendments
into the committee substitute.
At 8:45 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
