         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 10,  
         1999, the House Committee on Criminal Jurisprudence met in a  
         formal meeting and was called to order by the Chair,  
         Representative Juan Hinojosa at 6:25 pm.

         The chair laid out SB 739.   
          
         Representative Garcia moved that SB 739 be reported favorably  
         to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and  
         be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following vote:

                        Nixon, Joe; Smith; Talton (7). 
          
         Nays:          None (0).

         The chair laid out SB 188 as pending business.   
          
         Representative Nixon, Joe moved that SB 188 be reported  
         favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do  
         pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following  
         vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Garcia; Green; Keel; Nixon,  
                        Joe; Smith; Talton (6). 
          
         Nays:          Representative Hinojosa (1).

         The chair laid out SB 962.   
          
         The chair moved to reconsider the vote by which the measure  
         was reported from committee.  The motion to reconsider  
         prevailed without objection.  
          
         Representative Keel offered a complete committee substitute.   
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         Representative Keel moved that SB 962, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:
