         Pursuant to a notice posted on June 13, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Criminal Justice met in a  
         joint public hearing with House Committee on Corrections and was  
         called to order by the chair, Representative Turner, Sylvester,  
         at 9:05 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Turner, Sylvester; Farrar; Gallego;  
                   Smith; Staples (5). 
          
         Absent:   None (0). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken on the 2001-2005 inmate population  
         projections for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.  (See  
         attached witness list.) 
          
         At 11:20 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
