         Pursuant to a notice posted on April 14, 2000, the House  
         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Education met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the acting chair,  
         Representative Delisi at 9:44 a.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Delisi; Giddings; West (3). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Cuellar; Hochberg, Mowery (3). 
         A quorum was present.

         At 1:35 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 2:00 p.m., May 1, 2000. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 2:10 p.m. and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Cuellar. The roll was answered as  
         follows: 
          
         Present:  Representatives Cuellar; Delisi; Giddings; Hochberg  
                   (4). 
          
         Absent:   Representative Mowery (1). 
         A quorum was present.

         At 6:58 p.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
