         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 3, 1999, the House  
         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Education met in a public  
         hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative  
         Henry Cuellar at 8:07 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:

         Absent:   Representatives Delisi; Mowery (2). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         At 9:48 am, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until adjournment of the house. 
          
         The committee reconvened at 11:22 am and was called to order  
         by the chair, Representative Cuellar.  The roll was answered  
         as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Cuellar; Giddings; Mowery (3). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Delisi; Hochberg (2). 
          
         A quorum was present.
