SRC-PNG S.B. 1676 76(R) BILL ANALYSIS Senate Research Center S.B. 1676 By: Bernsen Economic Development 4/11/1999 As Filed DIGEST Currently, the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Code prohibits the manufacture, import, or sale of any alcoholic beverage made from dried grapes, dried fruits, or dried berries. This bill would delete text in order to allow for the production of alcoholic beverages from dried grapes, dried fruits, or dried berries. PURPOSE As proposed, S.B. 1676 deletes text from the Alcoholic Beverage Code to allow for the production of alcoholic beverages from dried grapes, dried fruits, or dried berries. RULEMAKING AUTHORITY This bill does not grant any additional rulemaking authority to a state officer, institution, or agency. SECTION BY SECTION ANALYSIS SECTION 1. Amends Section 101.65, Alcoholic Beverage Code, to delete text prohibiting the manufacture, import, sale, or possession for the purpose of sale an alcoholic beverage made from dried grapes, dried fruits, or dried berries. Makes conforming changes. SECTION 2. Effective date: September 1, 1999. SECTION 3. Emergency clause.
