The Committee will meet to hear invited testimony only on the Texas
business climate, with particular emphasis on the effects of recent
changes in civil justice laws, the workers' compensation system,
utility regulation, trucking deregulation, and environmental permitting
and regulation.

The Committee will meet jointly with the Senate Interim Committee on
Civil Justice, which is also charged with studying the impact of civil
justice reforms.  Public testimony will be taken at a future hearing.
