         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule  
         11.11, a public hearing of the Senate Interim Committee on  
         Annexation was held on Wednesday, September 10, 1997 in the  
         Capitol Extension, Room E1.028, at Austin, Texas.

         The Chair called the meeting to order at 10:05 am.  There  
         being a quorum present, the following business was transacted.   
          
         The following members arrived after the roll was called:   
         none. 
          
         The Chair introduced the committee staff. 
          
         The Chair informed the committee members of the proposed  
         public hearings. 
          
         The Chair laid out the committee rules. 
          
         Senator Gallegos moved adoption of the committee rules. 
          
         Senator Galloway seconded the motion. 
          
         The motion carried with a vote of 3 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present  
         not voting, and 2 absent.   
          
         There being no further business, at 10:10 am Senator Madla  
         moved that the Committee be adjourned. Without objection, it  
         was so ordered.
