         Pursuant to a notice posted in accordance with Senate Rule 11.11, a public hearing of the Senate 
         Committee on Tax Reform & Public School Finance, Select was held on Monday, February 17, 1997 in 
         the Senate Chamber at Austin, Texas.

         The Chair called the meeting to order at 1:15 pm.  There being a quorum present, the following business 
         was transacted.  
         
         The following members arrived after the roll was called:  none.
         
         The Chair and Vice-Chair discussed the committee procedures, meeting times and location of meetings.  
         The duties of each member were also discussed.
         
         The committee members discussed the rules of the Senate Select Committee on Tax Reform and Public 
         School Finance.  The Chair agreed to consider adopting the committee rules at a subsequent meeting to 
         give the members an opportunity to consider the rules.  
         
         There being no further business, at 1:45 pm Senator Armbrister moved that the Committee be adjourned. 
         Without objection, it was so ordered.
