         Pursuant to a notice posted on January 16, 1997, the House 
         Committee on Select Committee met in a public hearing and was 
         called to order by the Chair, Representative Allen Place at 9:15 
         am.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Place; Talton; Farrar; Greenberg; 
                   McCall; Nixon, Joe; Pickett; Pitts (8).
         
         Absent:   Representative Solis (1).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         SB 97
         
         The chair laid out SB 97.  
         
         The chair recognized Representative McCall to explain the 
         measure.  
         
         Testimony was taken.  
         
         On the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting 
         was recessed until 1:00 PM.  
         
         The Committee reconvened and was called to order by the Chair, 
         Representative Allen Place at 1:15 pm.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Place; Talton; Farrar; Greenberg; 
                   McCall; Nixon, Joe; Pickett; Pitts (8).
         
         Absent:   Representative Solis (1).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         Testimony was taken.
         
         Representative Pickett offered an amendment to the measure.  
         
         The amendment was adopted without objection.  
         
         Representative Place offered an amendment to the measure.  
         
         The amendment was adopted without objection.  
         Representative McCall moved that SB 97, as amended, be reported 
         favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do 
 
         





         pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following 
         vote:  
         Ayes:     Representatives Place; Talton; Farrar; Greenberg; 
                   McCall; Nixon, Joe; Pickett; Pitts (8).
         
         Nays:     None (0).
         
         Present not Voting: None (0).
         
         Absent:   Representative Solis (1).
         
         On the motion of the chair and without objection, the meeting
