         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 12,  
         1997, the House Committee on Transportation met in a formal  
         meeting and was called to order by the Chair, Representative  
         Clyde Alexander at 12:02 p.m. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Alexander; Hartnett; Hawley; Hill;  
                   Pickett (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Siebert; Edwards; Finnell; Uher (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         H.B. 2741 
          
         The chair laid out H.B. 2741 as pending business.   
          
         (Representative Siebert now present.)   
          
         Representative Alexander offered an amendment to the measure.   
          
         (Representative Finnell now present.)   
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection.   
          
         Representative Alexander moved that H.B. 2741, as amended, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Alexander; Siebert; Finnell;  
                        Hartnett; Hawley; Hill; Pickett (7). 
          
         Nays:          None (0).

         Representative Alexander offered a complete committee  
         substitute.   
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
  
         Representative Alexander moved that H.B. 2742, as substituted,  
         be reported favorably to the full house with the  
         recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion  
         prevailed by the following vote:

         Representative Siebert offered an amendment to the committee  
         substitute.   
          
         The amendment was adopted without objection.   
          
         The chair directed the staff to incorporate the amendments  
         into a committee substitute.   
          
         The committee substitute, as amended, was adopted without  
         objection. 
          
         Representative Pickett moved that S.B. 1630, as substituted,  
         be reported favorably to the full house with the  
         recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion  
         prevailed by the following vote:
