         Pursuant to a notice posted on June 2, 1998, the House  
         Committee on State Affairs met in a public hearing and was  
         called to order by the Chair, Representative Steven Wolens at  
         9:42 am. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Wolens; Turner, Sylvester; Brimer;  
                   Carter; Counts; Craddick; Hilbert; Hunter; Jones,  
                   Delwin; Longoria; McCall (11). 
         Absent:   Representatives Alvarado; Danburg; Ramsay; Stiles  
                   (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
          
         At 12:28 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was recessed until 1:00 pm. 
         The committee reconvened at 1:00 pm and was called to order by  
         the chair, Representative Wolens.  The roll was answered as  
         follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Wolens; Turner, Sylvester; Brimer;  
                   Counts; Hilbert; Hunter; Jones, Delwin; Longoria;  
                   McCall (9). 
         Absent:   Representatives Alvarado; Carter; Craddick; Danburg;  
                   Ramsay; Stiles (6). 
          
         A quorum was present.

         At 3:42 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,  
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
