Pursuant to a notice posted on May 1, 1997, the House
Committee on Public Safety met in a formal meeting and was
called to order by the Chair, Representative Keith Oakley at
7:25 pm.
The roll was answered as follows:
Present: Representatives Oakley; Driver; Carter; Keel, Terry;
Madden; Olivo; Reyna, Elvira (7).
Absent: Representatives Keffer; McClendon (2).
A quorum was present.
HB 3018
Pursuant to an announcement on the floor of the House
suspending the 5-day posting rule, the chair laid out HB 3018.
The chair explained the measure for Representative Allen.
Representative Carter moved that HB 3018 be reported favorably
to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and
be printed and be sent to the Committee on Local and Consent
Calendars. The motion prevailed by the following vote:
Ayes: Representatives Oakley; Driver; Carter; Keel,
Terry; Madden; Olivo; Reyna, Elvira (7).
Nays: None (0).
Present not Voting: None (0).
Absent: Representatives Keffer; McClendon (2).
HB 2625
The chair laid out the measure as pending business.
The committee substitute, which was laid out previously, was
adopted without objection.
Representative Driver moved that HB 2625, as substituted, be
reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation
that it do pass and be printed. The motion failed by the
following vote:
