         Pursuant to a notice posted on September 10, 1998, the House  
         Committee on Financial Institutions met in a public hearing  
         and was called to order by the Chair, Representative Kenny  
         Marchant at 1:40 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Marchant; Ehrhardt; Elkins; Smith;  
                   Solomons (5). 
          
         Absent:   Representatives Gutierrez; Giddings; Grusendorf;  
                   Patterson, L.P. "Pete" (4). 
          
         A quorum was present. 
          
         Representative Giddings now present. 
          
         The Committee heard invited testimony regarding Interim  
         Charges numbers two and four.  See attached witness list. 
          
         There being no further business the meeting was adjourned  
         subject to the call of the Chair without objection at 4:15 pm.
