            Pursuant to a notice posted on March 6, 1997, the House 
            Committee on Financial Institutions, Subcommittee on Home 
            Equity Lending met in a public hearing and was called to 
            order by the Chair, Representative Burt Solomons at 1:33 
            pm.
            
            The roll was answered as follows:  
            
            Present:  Representatives Marchant; Gutierrez; Smith; 
                      Solomons (4).
            
            Absent:   Representative Giddings (1).
            
            A quorum was present.

            Testimony was taken.  
            
            At 5:21 pm, on the motion of the chair and without 
            objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of
