House Committee on Elections

         Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 6,  
         1997, the House Committee on Elections met in a formal meeting  
         and was called to order by the Chair, Representative Debra  
         Danburg at 7:20 pm. 
          
         The roll was answered as follows:   
          
         Present:  Representatives Danburg; Denny; Galloway, Carolyn;  
                   Hodge; Isett; Madden (6). 
         Absent:   Representatives Jones, Jesse; Gallego; Place (3). 
         A quorum was present. 
          
         SB 500 
         The chair laid out SB 500 as pending business.   
          
         Representative Madden offered a complete committee substitute.   
          
         The committee substitute was adopted without objection. 
          
         Representative Madden moved that SB 500, as substituted, be  
         reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation  
         that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the  
         following vote:   
          
         Ayes:          Representatives Danburg; Denny; Galloway,  
                        Carolyn; Hodge; Isett; Madden (6). 
         Nays:          None (0). 
         Present not Voting:      None (0). 
         Absent:        Representatives Jones, Jesse; Gallego; Place  
                        (3). 
          
         At 7:40 pm, on the motion of Representative Hodge and without  
         objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of  
         the chair.
