Pursuant to a notice posted on March 12, 1997, the House
Committee on Elections, Subcommittee on Voting Registration
met in a public hearing and was called to order by the Chair,
Representative Madden at 2:10 pm.
The roll was answered as follows:

Absent: Representatives Jones, Jesse (1).
HB 1253, HB 1645, and HB 1852
The chair laid out HB 1253, HB 1645, and HB 1852 concurrently.

Representative Madden offered an amendment to HB 1645.
The amendment was adopted by the following record vote:

Representative Madden moved that HB 1645, as amended, be
reported favorably to the full committee with the
recommendation that it do pass. The motion prevailed by the

Present not Voting: None (0).
Absent: (0).
HB 1253 was left pending without objection.
Representative Madden offered amendments to HB 1852.
Testimony was taken.
The amendments were adopted by the following record vote:

(3).
Nays: None (0).
Present not Voting: None (0).
Absent: (0).
The chair directed the staff to incorporate the amendments
into a committee substitute.
Representative Madden moved that HB 1852, as substituted, be
reported favorably to the full committee with the
recommendation that it do pass. The motion prevailed by the
following vote:

Nays: None (0).
Present not Voting: None (0).
Absent: (0).
At 2:50 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection,
the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
