House Committee on Civil Practices

         Pursuant to a notice posted on February 19, 1997, the House 
         Committee on Civil Practices met in a joint public hearing with 
         the Senate Jurisprudence and House Judicial Affairs Committees 
         and was called to order by the Chair, Representative Patricia 
         Gray at 1:36 pm.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Gray; Alvarado; Bosse; Goodman; Roman 
                   (5).
         
         Absent:   Representatives Hilbert; Dutton; Nixon, Joe; Zbranek 
                   (4).
         
         A quorum was present.
         
         Chairman Rodney Ellis recognized Chief Justice Tom Phillips to 
         address the committees on the State of the Judiciary.
         
         (Representative Hilbert now present.)  
         
         (Representative Nixon, Joe now present.)  
         
         (Representative Zbranek now present.)  
         
         At 2:35 pm, on the motion of the chair and without objection, 
         the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
