        Pursuant to a notice posted on April 3, 1998, the House Committee on  
        Business & Industry, Subcommittee on Workers' Comp Ins Carrier  
        Practices met in a public hearing and was called to order by the  
        Chair, Representative Giddings at 9:13 am. 
         
        The roll was answered as follows:   
         
        Present:   Representatives Rhodes; Giddings; Janek (3). 
         
        Absent:    Representatives Elkins; Woolley (2). 
         
        A quorum was present. 
         
        Testimony was taken.  (See attached witness list.) 
         
        The chair recognized Representative Brimer, though not a named member  
        of the subcommittee, as being present.
