         Pursuant to a notice posted on January 29, 1996, the House 
         Committee on Appropriations-S/C on Education met in a public 
         hearing and was called to order by the Chair, Representative 
         Henry Cuellar at 8:15 am.
         
         The roll was answered as follows:  
         
         Present:  Representatives Cuellar; Hernandez; Hochberg (3).
         
         Absent:   Representatives Greenberg; West, George "Buddy" (2).
         
         A quorum was present.

         present).

         At 9:50 a.m., on the motion of the chair and without objection, 
         the meeting was recessed until 10:30 or upon adjournment of the 
         House.
         
         The Subcommittee on Education was called to order and roll was 
         taken at 11:20 a.m.
         
         Present:  Representatives Cuellar; Hochberg; West (3).
         
         Absent:   Representatives Greenberg; Hernandez (2).
         
         A quorum was present.

         Absent:   None (0).
