        1-4                          Meghan Christine Manning

        1-5           WHEREAS, The passing of Meghan Christine Manning on

        1-6     May 6, 1997, at the age of 17, has brought a great loss to the

        1-7     family and many friends of this fine young Texan; and

        1-8           WHEREAS, The daughter of Patrick and Linda Manning, she was

        1-9     born in Southfield, Michigan, but happily became a naturalized

       1-10     Texan after moving with her family to The Woodlands; and

       1-11           WHEREAS, Meghan Manning was a junior at The Woodlands High

       1-12     School, where she had earned induction into the National Honor

       1-13     Society and successfully balanced the demands of her course work

       1-14     with a variety of school and community-based activities; in

       1-15     addition to being a varsity cheerleader, she was active in

       1-16     Young Life, the Good Sportsmanship League, and the Math Honor

       1-17     Society; and

       1-18           WHEREAS, She demonstrated her leadership abilities through her

       1-19     involvement with the school's student council and Interact, a high

       1-20     school Rotary Club affiliate, and she also made time in her busy

       1-21     schedule to serve with Mu Alpha Theta; and

       1-22           WHEREAS, All who knew and loved Meghan Manning will long miss

       1-23     her presence; though her life has been cut tragically short, her

        2-1     unique spirit will surely endure in the hearts of those whose lives

        2-2     she touched for many years to come; now, therefore, be it

        2-3           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-4     75th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of

        2-5     Meghan Christine Manning and extend heartfelt condolences to

        2-6     the members of her family:  her parents, Patrick and Linda Manning;

        2-7     her sister, Amy Manning; her grandfather, Bruce Allen; and the many

        2-8     other friends and relatives of this beloved young woman; and, be

        2-9     it further

       2-10           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared

       2-11     for the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy

       2-12     from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,

       2-13     it do so in memory of Meghan Christine Manning.
