AN ACT
|
|
|
relating to the definitions of "pass" and "passing" used in |
|
|
reference to a vehicle. |
|
|
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: |
|
|
SECTION 1. Section 545.001(2), Transportation Code, is |
|
|
amended to read as follows: |
|
|
(2) "Pass" or "passing" used in reference to a vehicle |
|
|
means: |
|
|
(A) to: |
|
|
(i) overtake and proceed past another |
|
|
vehicle moving in the same direction as the passing vehicle; and |
|
|
(ii) return to the original lane of travel; |
|
|
or |
|
|
(B) to attempt the [that] maneuver described by |
|
|
Paragraph (A). |
|
|
SECTION 2. This Act takes effect September 1, 2023. |
