The chair called the meeting to order at 2:40 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

As a matter of pending business, the Chair laid out anew SB 2452 by Senator Lucio. Public testimony on the senate bill was heard at the April 15 hearing and remained closed. Senator Creighton moved that SB 2452 do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senators Alvarado and Rodríguez submitted motions in writing requesting unanimous consent to be shown voting aye on SB 2452; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

As a matter of pending business, the Chair laid out anew SJR 79 by Senator Lucio. Public testimony on the senate joint resolution was heard at the April 15 hearing and remained closed. Senator Creighton moved that SJR 79 do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 6 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 1 absent.

 

As a matter of pending business, the Chair laid out anew CSSB 641 by Senator Huffman and recognized Senator Creighton for a motion. Senator Creighton moved to reconsider the vote by which the committee substitute for SB 641 was adopted during the April 1 hearing; without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Creighton moved to withdraw the committee substitute sent up during the April 1 hearing; without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Creighton sent up a new committee substitute. Senator Perry explained the difference between the new committee substitute and the senate bill as filed. Senator Creighton moved adoption of the new committee substitute for SB 641; without objection, it was so ordered. Public testimony on the senate bill was heard at the April 1 hearing and remained closed. Senator Creighton moved that SB 641 do not pass but that the new committee substitute adopted in lieu thereof do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting and 0 absent.

 

As a matter of pending business, the Chair laid out anew SB 2126. Senator Creighton sent up a committee substitute. The Chair recognized Senator Creighton to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed. Senator Creighton moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Creighton moved that SB 2126 do not pass but that CSSB 2126 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 4 ayes, 3 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.

 

As a matter of pending business, the Chair laid out anew SB 2332. Senator Creighton sent up a committee substitute. The Chair recognized Senator Creighton to explain the difference between the committee substitute and the senate bill as filed. Senator Creighton moved adoption of the committee substitute; without objection, it was so ordered. Senator Creighton moved that SB 2332 do not pass but that CSSB 2332 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 7 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.

 

Senator Creighton assumed the chair.

 

As a matter of pending business, the Chair laid out anew the committee substitute for SB 2026. Public testimony on CSSB 2026 was heard at the April 15 hearing and remained closed. Senator Perry moved that SB 2026 do not pass but CSSB 2026 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 4 ayes, 3 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.

 

Senator Perry resumed the chair.

 

 

 

 

There being no further business, at 2:50 PM Senator Perry moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
