Pursuant to an announcement from the house floor on May 9, 2019, and permission granted on May 9, 2019, to meet while the House was in session, the House Committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety met in a formal meeting and was called to order by the chair, Representative Nevárez, at 5:06 p.m.

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Nevárez; Paul; Calanni; Clardy; Goodwin; Israel; Lang; and Tinderholt.

A quorum was present.

SB 616

The chair laid out SB 616 as pending business.

Representative Paul offered a complete committee substitute.

The committee substitute was adopted without objection.

Representative Paul moved that SB 616, as substituted, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:

Ayes:                           Representatives Nevárez; Paul; Calanni; Clardy; Goodwin; Israel; Lang; Tinderholt (8).

Nays:                           None (0).

Absent:                        Representative Burns (1).

The chair laid out SB 1804 as pending business.

Representative Clardy moved that SB 1804, without amendments, be reported favorably to the full house with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed.  The motion prevailed by the following record vote:
