R E S O L U T I O N
|
|
|
WHEREAS, Parents Alliance dba Superate y Triunfa is |
|
|
celebrating the 11th anniversary of its founding in 2019; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Established in 2008, Superate y Triunfa empowers |
|
|
low-income Hispanic parents to become full partners in their |
|
|
children's education; the organization, which serves parents of |
|
|
children attending Title 1 schools, focuses on self-esteem, family |
|
|
values, social responsibility, and education for success; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Superate y Triunfa has yielded an 83 percent |
|
|
graduation rate, with 30 percent of its classes graduating all |
|
|
enrollees; over the course of the program, parents gain an |
|
|
understanding of the American education system and the confidence |
|
|
to become involved in their children's schools and to communicate |
|
|
with teachers and administrators; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, For more than a decade, Superate y Triunfa has made a |
|
|
positive difference in the lives of countless Texas families by |
|
|
giving parents the tools to become active agents of change in their |
|
|
children's education, and this exceptional program is indeed worthy |
|
|
of recognition; now, therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 86th Texas |
|
|
Legislature hereby commemorate the 11th anniversary of Parents |
|
|
Alliance dba Superate y Triunfa and extend to all those associated |
|
|
with the program sincere best wishes for continued success with |
|
|
their important work; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be |
|
|
prepared for the organization as an expression of high regard by the |
|
|
Texas House of Representatives. |
