AN ACT
  relating to the regulation of salvage vehicle dealers.
         BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS:
         SECTION 1.  Subchapter A, Chapter 2302, Occupations Code, is
  amended by adding Section 2302.009 to read as follows:
         Sec. 2302.009.  APPLICABILITY OF CHAPTER TO CERTAIN GENERAL
  DISTINGUISHING NUMBER HOLDERS. This chapter applies to the holder
  of an independent motor vehicle dealer's general distinguishing
  number issued under Chapter 503, Transportation Code, in the same
  manner as this chapter applies to a salvage vehicle dealer if the
  holder of the general distinguishing number:
               (1)  acts as a salvage vehicle dealer or rebuilder; or
               (2)  stores or displays a motor vehicle as an agent or
  escrow agent of an insurance company.
         SECTION 2.  Section 2302.101, Occupations Code, is amended
  to read as follows:
         Sec. 2302.101.  LICENSE OR DEALER'S GENERAL DISTINGUISHING
  NUMBER REQUIRED [FOR SALVAGE VEHICLE DEALER]. Unless a person
  holds a salvage vehicle dealer license issued under this chapter or
  an independent motor vehicle dealer's general distinguishing
  number issued under Chapter 503, Transportation Code, the person
  may not:
               (1)  act as a salvage vehicle dealer or rebuilder; or
               (2)  store or display a motor vehicle as an agent or
  escrow agent of an insurance company.
         SECTION 3.  This Act takes effect September 1, 2019.
