Pursuant to suspension of Senate Rule 11.10 and 11.18, a public hearing of the Senate Committee on Health & Human Services was held on Thursday, May 4, 2017, in the Betty King Committee Room at Austin, Texas.

The chair called the meeting to order at 3:40 PM. There being a quorum present, the following business was transacted:

The chair laid out as a matter of pending business CSSB 315.

 

Senator Watson moved that SB 315 do not pass but that CSSB 315 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent. Senator Van Taylor submitted a motion in writing requesting to be shown voting aye on CSSB 315.

 

Senator Schwertner moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

The chair laid out as a matter of pending business HB 1697.

 

Senator Buckingham moved adoption of the committee substitute for HB 1697; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

Senator Buckingham moved that HB 1697 do not pass but that CSHB 1697 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.

 

Senator Schwertner moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.

Senator Uresti moved that HB 2379 do not pass but that CSHB 2379 be reported back to the Senate with the recommendation that it do pass and be printed. The motion carried with a record vote of 9 ayes, 0 nays, 0 present not voting, and 0 absent.

 

Senator Schwertner moved that the bill be recommended for placement on the Local & Uncontested Calendar; without objection, it was so ordered.

 

There being no further business, at 3:44 PM Senator Schwertner moved that the Committee stand recessed subject to the call of the chair. Without objection, it was so ordered.
