Pursuant to a notice posted on January 26, 2018, the House Committee on Transportation met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Morrison, Geanie W., at 9:08 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Morrison, Geanie W.; Martinez, "Mando"; Minjarez; Pickett; Simmons; Thompson, Ed; Thompson, Senfronia; and Wray.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

 

The Committee Heard Invited Testimony on the following Interim Charges:

 

Review the state's response to Hurricane Harvey and natural disaster preparedness with respect to the transportation system and transportation infrastructure. Make recommendations for improving agency operations related to emergency preparedness and response.

 

(Representative Israel now present.)

 

 

Testimony taken/registration recorded.  (See attached witness list.)

 

Monitor the agencies and programs under the Committee’s jurisdiction and oversee the implementation of relevant legislation passed by the 85th Legislature. In conducting this oversight, the committee will also specifically monitor the implementation of the TxDOT Sunset legislation and related management actions.
