Pursuant to a notice posted on July 10, 2018, the House Committee on Licensing & Administrative Procedures met in a public hearing and was called to order by the chair, Representative Kuempel, at 10:12 a.m.

 

The initial quorum call was answered as follows: Representatives Kuempel; Guillen; Frullo; Geren; Goldman; Hernandez; Paddie; and Thompson, Senfronia.

 

A quorum was present.

 


 

The Committee met jointly with Business and Industry.

 

The Committee met to hear invited testimony on Interim Charge 1:

 

Evaluate the adequacy of the workforce currently available to the industries responsible for

rebuilding the state’s key infrastructure as well as residential and commercial properties

damaged by Hurricane Harvey. Specifically, examine the labor needs within the construction

industry and skilled trades and determine if local or state licensing requirements and regulations

are an unnecessary barrier to the ongoing success of post-Harvey recovery.

At 1:59 p.m., on the motion of Representative Kuempel and without objection, the meeting was adjourned subject to the call of the chair.
