No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.
The bill would amend the Government Code to remove the minimum handgun caliber requirement when demonstrating the handgun proficiency required to obtain or renew a license to carry a handgun. It is assumed any costs associated with implementing the provisions of the bill could be absorbed within existing agency resources.
The bill would take effect September 1, 2017.
