No significant fiscal implication to the State is anticipated.

The bill would amend the Government Code to allow the Texas Indigent Defense Commission to award grants to any Texas law school for the purpose of investigating claims of post-conviction innocence.  The bill would allow a law school that receives such a grant to contract with a Texas-based non-profit that operates an innocence project.  Duties and responsibilities associated with the bill could be implemented with existing resources.

No significant fiscal implication to units of local government is anticipated.
