SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 919
	WHEREAS, Zachary Cousin of Winnsboro exhibited remarkable
	bravery, fortitude, and maturity when he came to the aid of his
	family in the aftermath of a tornado on April 29, 2017; and
	WHEREAS, An eight-year-old student at Winnsboro Elementary
	School, Zachary Cousin, together with his parents and his brother
	and sister, was driving to visit family when a tornado flipped
	their sport utility vehicle and rolled it over several times,
	knocking nearly everyone in the car unconscious; and
	WHEREAS, When Zachary woke up, he heard his loved ones
	moaning in pain and quickly took action; while his mother, Holly
	Cousin, made her way to the side of the road in an attempt to find
	help, Zachary tried to free his father, Seth Cousin, who was
	trapped inside the twisted vehicle; and
	WHEREAS, Despite his desperate efforts, Zachary was unable
	to pull his father out of the wreckage, so he turned his attention
	to his 10-year-old brother, Carter, extricating him from the rear
	row of seats and taking him to join their mother; he then returned
	to the car and, after several tense moments of struggle, removed
	his 10-month-old sister, Birdie, from her car seat, drew her out
	of the car, and carried her to her mother's arms; and
	WHEREAS, A passing couple took Zachary, his mother, and his
	siblings to a local hospital, and a team of first responders
	later freed Mr. Cousin from the vehicle; all the members of the
	family suffered serious injuries, including Zachary, who was
	treated for lacerations to his head; and
	WHEREAS, When his loved ones were in danger, Zachary Cousin
	rose to the occasion and helped avert a tragic outcome, and he is
	truly deserving of special recognition; now, therefore, be it
	RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
	Legislature, hereby commend Zachary Cousin for his heroic actions
	on April 29, 2017, and extend to him and his family sincere best
	wishes for a full recovery; and, be it further
	RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
	Zachary as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
