SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 895
|
|
|
WHEREAS, The 90th birthday of an esteemed Texan is indeed |
|
|
cause for celebration, and Betty Bob Stewart Massey of Fort Worth |
|
|
is marking this significant milestone in her life on July 30, |
|
|
2017; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, In 1965, Mrs. Massey moved from Oklahoma to Fort |
|
|
Worth with her husband, Claude, and their three children, Nelda, |
|
|
Gary, and Nancy; she taught at Carter Park Elementary School and |
|
|
then worked at J. T. Stevens Elementary until her retirement in |
|
|
1987; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Mrs. Massey's fine family has grown to include |
|
|
eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; as a retired |
|
|
elementary school teacher, she naturally taught each of them how |
|
|
to write in cursive; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, A breast cancer survivor, Mrs. Massey has |
|
|
dedicated herself to helping others win the battle against the |
|
|
disease, and she recently walked in the Susan G. Komen Race for |
|
|
the Cure for the 25th time; for many years, she ran a 5K almost |
|
|
every weekend, often taking home the first place trophy as the |
|
|
only participant in her age category; she finally hung up her |
|
|
running shoes at the age of 87 but remains very active; and |
| |
|
|
WHEREAS, Meeting life's challenges with resilience, |
|
|
optimism, and determination, Betty Massey is an inspiration to |
|
|
many people, and she holds a special place in the hearts of all |
|
|
who are privileged to know her; now, therefore, be it |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
|
Legislature, hereby congratulate Betty Bob Stewart Massey on the |
|
|
occasion of her 90th birthday and extend to her sincere best |
|
|
wishes for continued happiness; and, be it further |
| |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
|
Mrs. Massey as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate. |
