SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 890
 
 
  In Memory
  of
  Leary Barrett
 
         WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas honors and
  commemorates the life of Leary Barrett, who died May 17, 2017, at
  the age of 92; and
         WHEREAS, Leary Barrett was an exemplary citizen who was
  widely respected and beloved in her Hamilton Park community; and
         WHEREAS, Leary Barrett was born July 11, 1924, in Marshall;
  she was one of 18 siblings; she and her beloved husband, the late
  James Lee Barrett, were blessed with seven children and six
  grandchildren, who were a source of much pride and joy for her;
  and
         WHEREAS, A devout Christian who practiced her faith in her
  daily life, she was a 40-year member of New Mount Zion Baptist
  Church in Dallas, where she was active in the senior mission
  ministry, the women's chorus, and the Baptist Training Union; and
         WHEREAS, A woman of courage, strength, and compassion, she
  gave unselfishly to others, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued
  counsel will not be forgotten by those who were privileged to
  share in her life; and
         WHEREAS, She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother,
  and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured forever by
  her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th
  Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved
  family of Leary Barrett; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for
  her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the Texas
  Senate and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so in
  memory of Leary Barrett.
