SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 738
|
|
WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to |
|
recognize Father Joe Villalon on the 28th anniversary of his |
|
ordination into the priesthood; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, Father Villalon was ordained on June 3, 1989, by |
|
Bishop John J. Fitzpatrick at the Basilica of Our Lady of San Juan |
|
del Valle-National Shrine; a graduate of Pontifical College |
|
Josephinum in Columbus, Ohio, he is a native of the Rio Grande |
|
Valley, where he grew up participating as an altar server, |
|
lector, catechist, and minister of music in his church in La |
|
Feria; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, He has been assigned to parishes throughout the |
|
Rio Grande Valley, and he brings a sense of "familia" to all his |
|
congregations; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, A man of spiritual depth and devotion, Father |
|
Villalon has performed countless ceremonies; he has prayed with |
|
parishioners in times of hardship and bereavement and rejoiced |
|
with them in times of prosperity and celebration; and |
|
|
WHEREAS, An accomplished scholar and theologian, he has |
|
had a profound impact on the lives of countless people, and he is |
|
beloved and respected by all who are privileged to know him; now, |
|
therefore, be it |
|
|
RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 85th |
|
Legislature, hereby commend Father Joe Villalon on his exceptional |
|
service to the Church and the communities he serves and extend to |
|
him best wishes for a memorable 28th anniversary of his ordination |
|
into the priesthood; and, be it further |
|
|
RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for |
|
him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. |
